Applicability of Eway bill  in 8 States

GST Council on 31 May, 2018 has announced applicability of eway bill for intra state movement of goods in eight states. E-way is rolled out in maximum states of country while in some states it’s still in trial stage. The announcement has made mandatory of generation of eway bill for intra state sale in those states.

E-way bill is online generation of invoices on movement of goods. As per GST Act, eway bill is compulsory in Intra state movement of goods  of more than Rs 50000 or more.

As per notification, applicability of eway bill, eway bill system for intra state movement of goods would be implemented in Jammu & Kashmir, Chhattisgarh, odhisa, goa & Punjab on 1 June, 2018, in Tamil Naidu 2 June, 2018 and for west bengal date of implementation is 3 June 2018.

eway bill system would be implemented throughout the country, latest by 3 june, 2018. As on 30 May, 2018 eway bill for inter state sale has rolled throughout the country. Till now more than 6 crore and 30 lakhs eway bill have been generated successfully which includes 2 crore eway bill for intra state movement of goods.

At trial stage, the traders were facing glitches and error on generation of ewaybill, now the eway bill system has been improved and there is a smooth generation of invoices. On average more than 12 lakh eway bill are being generated daily. Traders and Industry, if have any query on eway bill they may approach their respective tax authority for guidance on this matter. Many tax departments & offices throughout in the India are organizing seminars on eway bill generation and rules attached therein.
